Assistant Controller, (Exempt), Reports to Controller - Finance
The Assistant Controller oversees the accounting and financial activities of Discipleship Ministries (DM), (both World Service & Upper Room Ministries) including monthly closings, financial reporting and statements, financial analysis, A/R and A/P, reconciliation’s, cash management, costing forecasts, budgeting, auditing functions and liaison, and other daily accounting tasks; establishes and maintains accounting policies, procedures and systems, and ensures their compliance with applicable standards and principles for all units of the agency; directs and supervises the work of accounting staff. Serves as a primary liaison with both internal and external auditors.
This position will assist in preparation and review of monthly financial reports and analyses, year-end financial reports, and special reports as needed for DM and its units. Reconciles cash, various balance sheet accounts including the intercompany transactions according to the guidelines established in the Administrative Service Agreement. Responds to international, federal, state, and local authorities, in conjunction with the Controller, for DM and its units. Produces standard reports for external distribution, including for GCFA, banking institutions, federal, state, local, and foreign country authorities. Works with internal auditors to provide responses to their requests and questions.
Prepares and reviews consolidated financial statements and note disclosures, as well as supporting work papers and schedules, for external auditors. Oversee the annual external audit process and serves as a primary liaison with auditors.
Responsible, in conjunction with the Controller, for establishing, implementing, supervising, monitoring, and approving all financial and account workflow systems of DM (World Service & Upper Room Ministries) and training of system users.
Location
Work from home office - Nashville, Tenn. (must live in the Nashville area).
Education / Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in accounting
Requires instructor level knowledge of accounting and financial systems. CPA preferred.
Six to seven years of related experience.
