Benchmarks for Church Plants during COVID-19
By Rachel Gilmore
Seneca once said, “Our plans miscarry because they have no aim. When a man does not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is the right wind.” Setting goals or plans is important to guide and direct the life of a healthy faith community, but how has our current reality shifted what those goals look like? What are healthy metrics to consider as we set goals for the remainder of 2020 and into 2021?
Almost twenty church planters and church developers from throughout the United Methodist Church gathered on a Zoom call to talk honestly about goals and benchmarks during the season of COVID-19. A PowerPoint presentation (attached) was developed as a resource for our conversation. It focuses on suggested metrics to look at related to social media and online engagement.
