Discipleship Ministries Statement Regarding Hymnwriter David Haas

Catholic hymnwriter, David Haas (“Blest Are They,” “You Are Mine,” “We Are Called”), has been accused of sexual misconduct in 2020 by several women, spanning many years. Some of David Haas’ work is on our website and in The Faith We Sing, Worship & Song, and The Upper Room Worship Book. Several Catholic institutions have requested their congregations not perform his music, pending an investigation and possible future court decision. Discipleship Ministries also requests United Methodist congregations not perform David Haas’ music pending an investigation and possible court decision. We ask for prayers for all parties involved and that God may grant healing and justice.
