21st Century Africana Liturgy Resources for the Second Sunday After Pentecost, Year B
Gathering Meditation
(Inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:17)
For those who grieve over lost loved ones
over lost things
over lost dreams
over lost relationships…
Hear the voice of God today calling you forward
to new dreams
to new hopes
to new possibilities…
Do you not perceive it?
Call to Worship
One: We gather this morning Lord, to hear your Word.
Many: May your Word take root in our spirits.
One: We gather this morning Lord, seeking your anointing.
Many: May your Word grow within us possibilities for our future.
One: We gather this morning Lord, seeking direction.
Many: May your Word create within us a harvest of blessings.
All: Come Holy Sprit, Come!
Prayer of Celebration and Confession: Send Your Anointing
God of power, victory and might, we confess to you our slowness in accepting new possibilities for our lives. Forgive us for being paralyzed by fear and thoughts of what could have been. Send your anointing to move us beyond our places of fear and grief. Send your anointing to strengthen us for the twisting, turning journey that lies ahead. Send your anointing to guide us into our destiny and to reap the harvest you have in store for us. In Jesus' Name, we pray, Amen.
