Praise God For Joan Of Arc
Recommended Tune: Leoni, a Hebrew melody transcribed by Meyer Leoni (ca. 1770)

Praise God for Joan of Arc.
Fed by her inner light
she answered God's insistent voice:
"Defend the right!"
"For this God gave me life,
and told me I must go
to make war 'gainst the English king,
my people's foe."She gave the word to Charles
that she in God's sure name
would raise the siege of Orleans,
reclaim his reign.
Joan armed herself with God
and with ten thousand men
she warned the English "Leave your forts.
Come not again."The king was crowned at Reims,
and Joan assured her friends
that she would help them in their fight,
make no amends.
Recovering from her wound,
Joan offered up her sword,
and urged her men to carry on,
kept by their Lord. When captured, held in chains,
and henceforth duly tried,
Joan witnessed she was sent from God.
She had not lied.
That fateful day at dawn,
the cross before her eyes,
she met her death, and then was born
to Paradise.
