Wesley Hymns (Introduction)

This page will make available some of the Wesley hymns -- by both John and Charles Wesley or by others, but with Wesley translations or alterations. All hymns on this site are taken from early Methodist hymnals. None of the hymns have appeared in either the current United Methodist hymnal (1989) or the previous hymnal (1966). The texts appear here as they appeared in the publication cited. They have not been edited, altered, or the language made inclusive. In all cases, the music of these hymns is the same as the music of the original publication. For texts that appeared without music, a suitable setting has been included. In all cases, of course, the user is free to set these texts to other tunes. These texts and tunes are in the public domain.
