Walking with Jesus

Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost, Year B

For those of us who are focused on stewardship this month, today’s Gospel reading offers a lot of potential … potential for engagement, potential for exploring the meaning of generosity, and the potential for tying ourselves up in interpretive and linguistic knots!

Jesus wants us to have grace enough to float free from all that encumbers us and weighs us down. Jesus wants us to leave our kingdoms behind, leave behind the desire to be king of that kingdom, and enter into his kingdom, where we will know riches beyond imagining; where we will know grace enough.
